VoWiFi

With VoWiFi “Voice over WiFi” you can offer your customers telephone accessibility even in regions or locations without LTE reception. No matter whether there are no mobile phone masts or thick walls – the times of poor reception and telephoning on the balcony are over.

VoWiFi: Telephone line via WLAN connection

VoWiFi uses WLAN connections instead of the regular mobile network to establish telephone connections and thus creates telephone reception even in places where coverage by the mobile network is weak or non-existent, such as in regions with few telephone masts or in interior rooms insulated by thick walls. In this way, VoWiFi makes it possible to make phone calls anywhere where WLAN is available, even without mobile phone reception, and in excellent HD voice quality. If your customer’s mobile signal is too weak, the connection automatically switches to VoWiFi if a WLAN connection is available. If the WLAN network area becomes too weak or is abandoned, the connection switches back to the mobile network just as seamlessly and without interruption. This means you always offer your customers the best reception – natively, without them having to pay attention to anything, worldwide and in the best voice quality.

Transfer multimedia content natively via VoWiFi without third-party providers

Enable your customers to be independent of third-party VoIP applications such as Skype or WhatsApp and put data sovereignty back in the hands of your customers without sacrificing functionality such as receiving and sending video and voice content by providing them with secure native solutions.

OTT platform

The technology that makes this possible is called OTT. An OTT platform (or online streaming platform) is an online service where video-on-demand, regular television and other types of media are available. Using OTT “over-the-top”, content can be delivered via an internet stream without having to rely on third-party providers.

OTT: The market of the future with strong growth forecasts

The video streaming market alone will reach a value of 330.51 billion USD by 2030, according to the current growth forecast by Grand View Research Inc. from April this year. This corresponds to an average annual growth rate of 21.3 % from 2022 to 2030. According to the study, this development is mainly due to the growing acceptance of smartphones in combination with a range of high-speed internet technologies such as LTE. Also contributing to this growth is the growing demand for devices that support digital media, as well as the increasing use of training videos in businesses and education sectors. The strongest average annual growth is forecast for the OTT segment, according to the study. According to the eMarketer study from June this year, by 2024 at the latest, more than half of American consumers will have switched completely from cable television to OTT streaming platforms.

The future of the learning, communication and entertainment landscape is based on OTT platforms

As a rule, OTT platforms offer a cheaper alternative to classic cable and satellite television. The term OTT streaming is mostly used in the context of video streaming. Some of the best-known OTT applications are video delivery services such as Netflix and Disney+, which monetize their service via a subscription model and allow internet-connected devices to access content over the internet if they have a subscription. However, OTT platforms also support a range of other content such as messaging, voice and audio streaming. OTT platforms are therefore the perfect solution to meet the needs of modern users for streaming or voice and video communication and cover the most important areas in the digital landscape such as real-time communication and retrieval of recorded content such as movies and TV programs.

Netflix and Twitch are pioneers of modern OTT platforms and monetization models

The OTT platform provides the ideal technology to deliver video and other digital content anytime, anywhere to a broad audience, distribute it to multiple services and accept payments from customers around the world via a wide variety of monetization options such as subscription, pay-per-view, lifetime access or free trials. In doing so, OTT streaming bypasses the traditional gatekeepers of cable, broadcast and satellite, triggering a disruptive transformation of the media landscape.

We develop your OTT and VoWiFi solutions together with you

Our client, a well-known telecommunications provider in the Middle East, has recognised this trend and has overcome the hurdles together with us. We supported them in their OTT streaming journey by providing the infrastructure for the delivery of content with which they can optimally provide their services to their customers. Our client was looking for its own OTT solution for its clientele in order to offer its own internet telephony platform both domestically but also for the many end customers living abroad. For this purpose, a customised solution was developed for the customer, including voice communication (combined with video call function), messaging (native SMS + rich instant messaging), real-time TV and radio and video-on-demand. This platform enabled our client to compete with other OTT solutions as a holistic “Telco in the Cloud” in a very short time. In addition to the development of the OTT solution, CAIRON also took care of the procurement and installation of the hardware, the connection of the platform to internal systems such as customer management or accounting, and even the training of the employees. In this way, we were able to put our client in a position to act independently in its market as an OTT provider and generate a new, lucrative source of income in a very short time.
